The Greece Runestones are a type of runestone with runic inscriptions that mention travels to Greece, or are erected in memory of someone who journeyed there—so-called Greece travellers.
During the Viking Age, Greece referred to the entire Byzantine Empire, which stretched across the eastern Mediterranean and much of present-day Turkey, including areas north of the Black Sea.
In most cases, the inscriptions commemorate individuals who died during their travels or simply state that the person had been to Greece.
Around 30 runestones are categorised as Greece Runestones. They are found in Sweden, mainly in the counties of Uppland, Södermanland, Östergötland, and Västmanland.
